MY NAME NON PROFİT EROL NOT, PROFİTEROL

From Cecilia Alemani - X - NO SOUL FOR SALE
My name is Cecilia Alemani and I am contacting you on behalf of X Initiative, a new not-for-profit art space in New York City that opened on March 7, 2009. X occupies the beautiful space of the former Dia Center for the Arts in Chelsea, located at 548 West 22nd Street, and will be active for one year.

I am writing to invite you to participate in our upcoming summer project – NO SOUL FOR SALE – A Festival of Independents – a festival that will bring together the most interesting not-for-profit art spaces from around the world. This event will gather, for a period of 5 days, fromJune 24 to the 28, the most exciting, innovative and respected not-for-profit centers, alternative institutions, artists’ collectives and independent enterprises that are currently active contributors to the international art scene.

The idea of the festival is quite simple. We will invite up to 50 not-for-profit art spaces and ask them to present themselves and/or the artists they support. Each organization will be offered a pre-assigned space within the premises of X for FREE with no strings attached. X will only provide electricity and approximately 250 sq.ft. (20 square meters) of floor space; everything else will be up to the participant. The participating groups – the “independents” as we like to call them – will be free to show whatever they like, whether it be art, performances, publications, videos, or simply themselves. In addition to the exhibition space, X will also make available a stage/performance area that will be open to each participant for a one hour period where participants can organize performances, presentations, film screenings, music programs, or other events.

NO SOUL FOR SALE is a grass-roots initiative with very limited resources; we can offer only space and time. For everything else we will count on your enthusiasm, generosity and spirited participation. We cannot offer any funds for shipping works, transportation of staff, accommodations or any other miscellaneous services. Nevertheless, we believe that this will be a unique opportunity for you to share your vision with other diverse international not-for-profits and independent enterprises.

We admire your work and your commitment. We want this festival to be a gathering of people who share a passion for art and who have devoted their time and energy to the art they believe in beyond the limits of the market and other logistical constraints. NO SOUL FOR SALE is a festival of unreasonable people, and we hope that we can count you among them.

If you wish to participate, please send us your confirmation no later than April 20th. In the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. We are also open to recommendations of other not-for-profits that may be interested in participating in this exciting project.

My name's Cecilia, I work at X-Initiative.

I read your email that Cecilia Alemani sent to me with the description of your work, and I would like to thank you for your interest in our Festival, "No Soul for Sale".

Unfortunately, we're only considering not-for-profit organizations or artists who are able to come to New York in person.

In fact, the idea of the Festival is to give the Independents the opportunity to get to know each other and to present themselves, not just their artworks, to the New York public.

Thanks again for your interest.

All the best.

hi cecilia,nice to meet you
I thank you, but I do not understand,I wanted to be a part of the exhibition, but unfortunately I think the presentation consists of exhibitions.how the concept of this exhibition describes the non-profit them open field?.
I'm putting this blog correspondence
but there's a lot more to say

thank you for all
best wishes

Cecilia
Dear Mehemet,

No Soul For Sale is a Festival of Independents, not an exhibition. In order to participate, you have to come to NY and be present to the 5 days of the festival to introduce your activity to the city and the art community. We are only inviting institutions, artists collectives, and organizations that can actually come on site. Tha'ts the idea of the festival, which again it is not an exhibition. It's a platform of exchange and dialogue, not a showcase of artworks.

We would love you to present your activity here in NY, but if you cannot come, I'm afraid we cannot install your work on your behalf.

Sorry for the misunderstanding
Please let me know if you have further questions

Best,

The Language Habitat: an Ecopoetry Manifesto

The Language Habitat: an Ecopoetry Manifesto By James Engelhardt Ecopoetry is connection. It’s a way to engage the world by and through language. This poetry might be wary of language, but at its core believes that language is an evolved ability that comes from our bodies, that is close to the core of who we are in the world. Ecopoetry might borrow strategies and approaches from postmodernism and its off-shoots, depending on the poet and their interests, but the ecopoetic space is not a postmodern space. An ecopoem might play with slippages, but the play will lead to further connections. Ecopoetry does share a space with science. One of the concerns of ecopoetry is non-human nature (it shares this concern with the critical apparatus it borrows from, ecocriticism). It certainly shares that concern with most of the world’s history of poetry: How can we connect with non-human nature that seems so much more, so much larger than ourselves? How can we understand it?
